Introduction (IMO)
The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics competition

for High School Students and is held annually in a different counntry. The first IMO
was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 117 countries in 5 continents.
The IMO Board ensures that the competition takes place each year and that each host country observes the regulations and traditions of the IMO.

National representation of Nepal

This is our initiative to be a part of this International Championship and now is the time to compete internationally.
Mathematics Olympiad of Nepal (MOON) is the official representative of IMO for Nepal. We have the responsibility to prepare our genius young minds to grab the international award.
MOON Mathematics Olympiad of Nepal (MOON), an official representative of International Mathematics
Olympiad (IMO), is a registered non-profit voluntary organization of veteran Mathematicians from
Universities, Mathematics Trainers, Authors, Gold Medalists and Teachers. It has started its activities from 2013 A.D. but officially established in 2015 A.D.
The main objective of MOON is to expose our national talents in the global forum and enhance the qualities of our students in mathematics. MOON aims to advance the level of children and young
people in mathematics. Further, to identify talent, foster a love of mathematics in all academic level,
and create the opportunity for national champions to compete in international mathematics forum.

Primarily, it organizes the mathematics competitions in different phases from all over the country,
mentoring schemes and trainings for high performing students and selects top six to represent
Nepal in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO).
It also runs the varieties of enrichment seminars, discussion activities and trainings in encouraging both learners and teachers.
The person with good mathematics background excels in every aspect of society. Its mission is to
inspire the next generations to involve in mathematical activities from the very beginning of their
academic life.MOON is going to organize a national level competition for Secondary school level students [Grade
9 to 12] so that they can be prepared for IMO 2020 which is going to be held at
St. Petersburg,
Russian Federation from (08 – 18) July 2020.. The MOON Executive Board ensure that the competition takes place each year with fair judgments. Benefits from MOON The winning team will be governed by MOON team for International Participation in IMO 2019.
Total 6 participants will be competing in IMO 2020 St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, representing
Nepal.

 Every participant of Level I is awarded with a Certificate of Participation. Toppers are
awarded with merit certificates.
 Students get an opportunity to be assessed at international level and are awarded
performance-based rankings.

 Students gain confidence to contest at international level in a world where from admission
to elite courses to selection for choice jobs is becoming more and more competitive.

 The spirit of competition and sense of recognition inspire students to excel in the chosen
field of study and set higher goals.

 Top six students are awarded with Gold and Silver medals.

 The concept of comprehensive MQ (Math Quotient) report highlights the strengths and
weakness of the participant.

 A comprehensive SMQ (School Math Quotient) report highlights the strengths and
weaknesses of the school vis-à-vis international performance to enable the schools to
improve the quality and level of mathematics education at their end.
